The Redneck "Hillbilly" Faucet

Kitchen Faucet Conversion

I have now succesfully converted our yuppy kitchen faucet to "redneck" style. When the original faucet handle broke after the faucet started to get stiff, I replaced the cartridge (which I probably should have done some time ago) and installed the ViseGrip tool you see here in place of the handle to give it that "hillbilly" look. If you want to convert your own faucet to the "redneck" style, just break off the handle or simply unscrew it and attach a locking pliers tool, and voila!

I went to Menard's to replace the faucet. It is a Moen model 87540S. Cost: US $150. Scary. It turns out that if you spend that much money for a faucet, it comes with a lifetime warranty. The guy at the store told me all I have to do is call Moen and ask for a new faucet or replacement parts. Hopefully, I can get a new one. Also, during the course of fixing this thing, I found that the hot water shutoff valve does indeed NOT shut off the hot water completely. Working with water constantly going all over is not fun. It's back together now and I am enjoying our "redneck" faucet until I get parts or a new faucet and can make further repairs.
